In preparing for the 2nd Annual Global Sheep Conference, we are working on a Canadian presentation that speaks to what our industry thinks the sector's good new story is.
 
Our hope is to collate short videos from all walks of the industry and we are putting out a call for submissions.  
PS:  Everyone is welcome to provide their own videos! Don't be shy.

The Canadian Sheep Breeders’ Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Jane Underhill as General Manager effective November 1, 2020. The CSBA would like to express their appreciation to Linda Brandes for her talent and dedication throughout her mandate and wish her continued success in her future endeavors.
Jane lives in Montreal but is originally from Atlantic Canada where her connection to the ovine industry began. She brings extensive business and leadership experience to CSBA. Most recently she’s been a consultant for SMEs in various sectors including agriculture, sustainability, and natural fibres.
On a personal level, she’s been active in promoting healthy communities through urban agriculture, green innovation, and “buying local” initiatives. She’s a proud member of Upper Canada Fibreshed and an advisor to The Campaign for Wool and The Canadian Wool Council.

CSBA All Canada Online Purebred Sheep Sale

Online Auction!

Here are a few highlights of the upcoming Sale

• This is a timed auction event
Sale day is July 11, 2020: Bidding starts Friday July 10th at 9:00 am and will end at 6:00 pm on Saturday July 11th. Times are MST
• This is a "racehorse style" finish - where there will be extended bidding time during the last 5 minutes
• Consignors will need to send photos and forms to CSBA office by June 10th and all animals will need to be approved by the sale committee
• Signed Registration papers will need to be submitted by June 30th to the the CSBA office
• There is a $20 non-refundable entry fee / animal and 7% commission fee
• Buyers need to register with DLMS but all payments will be due to CSBA
• Transportation will be the responsibility of the buyer  - we will post any available transportation options on the website. 
• Anyone interested in providing transportation is asked to send their contact information to the CSBA to be updated on the website

Canadian Sheep Identification Program Fees Increasing Today 

 
For Immediate Release
Ottawa, ON (February 3, 2020) – Effective today, Canadian Sheep Identification Program (CSIP) approved Shearwell tags are subject to program fee increases originally noted in the January 4, 2019, press release.  The earlier release noted that fee increases resulting from the ratification of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Canadian Cattle Identification Agency (CCIA) and Canadian Sheep Federation (CSF) would “take place over the course of the next two years, varying by tag type according to the terms of the agreement and as tag inventories are replenished”.
 
The most recent fee increase will affect Shearwell tags at retail outlets starting today, raising the base price of ASET Single tags by $0.10/tag and ASET Double tags by $0.10/pair.
 

First Global Sheep Conference in Saskatoon, SK

The Canadian Sheep Federation was honoured to host a select group of senior industry executives.

The first Global Sheep Conference took place July 18th through 20th in Saskatoon. 

The goal of this inaugural event was to share common experiences, challenges and opportunities the sheep industry faces, look for areas for future global collaboration and bring the Canadian sheep industry into the spotlight. The meeting far exceeded those expectations!
